All training is delivered by Simon Ernstsons, a freelance instructor with over 20 years’ experience across grounds maintenance, arboriculture, invasive species management, and environmental training.

LANTRA-accredited training

Simon delivers a range of LANTRA accredited courses for approved training providers.

Courses commonly delivered include:

  • Brushcutters and trimmers

  • Hand-held hedgecutters

  • Other LANTRA machinery and land-based training (context dependent)

Training is practical, proportionate, and focused on safe, competent operation in real-world working environments.

City & Guilds Pesticides Training

Simon also delivers City & Guilds pesticide training and assessment, including:

PA1 – Principles of safe pesticide use

PA6 – Hand-held applicators

PA6AW – Aquatic application

EcoPlug and tree-injection methods

Training covers legislation, environmental protection, equipment setup, safe practice, and assessment preparation.

Bespoke and in-house training

In addition to accredited courses, Countryside Science provides bespoke face-to-face training tailored to specific tools, tasks, or operational contexts.

This may include:

  • Tool-specific or task-specific training

  • Site-based or in-house delivery

  • Support for teams with mixed experience levels

Bespoke training is particularly suited to organisations looking to address specific risks or skill gaps.
